We have a short, busy week.
Because of the two days off we will NOT have new spelling words or vocabulary words this week. Everything else will stay the same.
Our Halloween party is scheduled for Friday, October 29 after last break. (approx. 2:30) If you signed up to furnish anything I will send the list home with your student. It is on orange paper.
Enjoy the five days off. School resumes on Tuesday, October 26.

Good Morning,
Remember we have a fabulous field trip planned for tomorrow! Every student needs to have school lunch tomorrow. If your child already eats school lunch everything is the same. If your child brings lunch from home or goes home they will need to pay for one lunch tomorrow. We will be leaving the school at 9:00 a.m. and return about 3:20 p.m. It's a full day of learning fun! A water bottle and a jacket would be appropriate.
Spelling words - 8
swimming, swam, getting, coming came, having, doing, ended, happened, happening, started, joked, received, smiled, smiling
Vocabulary Words
appealing - attractive; desirable; pleasing
appease - to soothe or calm
bravado - false and overconfident bravery
pickle - a tricky situation; a food that has been preserved in vinegar or salt water
Thanks for attending your Parent - Teacher conference. After this afternoon I will have met with everyone! Your students are terrific. I hope you realized that from our visit. Thanks for everything you do at home to make this year a successful one.
Together we can achieve success.
Remember to save and send in box tops. Students will receive a weekly prize for bringing in box tops this month. The class that reaches the goal of 800 will have an extra spooktacular surprise.

Fall is surely in the air today. Hope you are enjoying the rain.
We are planing a field trip next Tuesday, October 12 to Parowan. This is along with our study of Iron County. We will be gone all day. Everyone will need to have school lunch that day. If your child already has school lunch every day nothing changes. If your child brings lunch from home or goes home for lunch they will need to purchase a school lunch. This way everyone has the same thing and feelings are not hurt. We will not need reading parents on Tuesday, October the 12. If you can come in another day that week it would be great, if not that's okay.
Spelling list 7
missed, willing, balloon, spelling, pretty, still, off, added, letter, different, pattern, middle, Mississippi, zipper, carry
Vocabulary Words
cumbersome - large or heavy; difficult to carry
glum - sad and gloomy
parable - a story that teaches a moral or lesson
query - a question
Picture re-takes will be on Thursday of next week, October 14.
I did send home a book order on Friday. If you choose to purchase any books please make a check out to Scholastic Book Clubs. Please have your order in by this Friday, October 8. A new book is a great incentive to get a struggling reader excited about reading.
Please start saving your box tops and bringing them into our classroom!! Put them in the can on the counter and don't forget to write your name on the can. The contest will be for the month of October. Prizes will be given out for all those that participate. The class that reaches the goal of 800 will have an extra spooktacular surprise!!
Please this week is Parent - Teacher Conferences. School will be dismissed at 2:30 every day, including Wednesday. If you have forgotten your time you can email me or call Mrs. Smith in the office. See you this week.
